Two committees formed to compensate Karbala victims of terrorist attacks
KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: The Media Adviser of southwestern Iraq‘s holy city of Karbala has stated on Thursday that two committees had been formed to compensate its citizens, who suffered from activities of the former regime and the terror attacks that took place in Iraq after its occupation in March 2003. “Karbala‘s local government has decided to form two committees to count those of its inhabitants, who had suffered from the atrocities of the former (Baath) Regime and the terrorist attacks that took place after the downfall of the regime in 2003,” Dr. Imad Mohammed Hussein told IraqiNews.com. Dr. Hussein said the first committee would act to compensate the people who suffered from the activities of the former regime or due to the terrorist and military operations that took place in Karbala Province, whether having been from its own citizens or those who moved to the Province from other provinces. “The second committee is related to compensate those who suffered from the atrocities of the former regime, who were exposed to physical harms, especially those who lost their ears, tongues or their noses, or any other harm exposed to their bodies,” he said, adding that “both committees were formed under the chairmanship of an appeals judge, along with representatives of the local government and the official departments of the Iraqi government.” Hussein concluded saying that “both committees shall begin raising the names of the harmed people to the Council of Ministers for ratifying the payment of compensations to be decided by the Council, according to its authorities.
