UAE military official in Baghdad Tues.
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan will head a high-ranking delegation to Baghdad on Tuesday to discuss means of boosting mutual cooperation with Iraqi officials. “The delegation will continue the deliberations that began with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s visit to the United Arab Emirates, followed by the UAE foreign minister’s visit to Baghdad,” according to a statement released by the Iraqi cabinet’s national center for media and received by IraqiNews.com. The visit comes as part of ongoing Arab efforts to support Iraq, the statement added, in reference to a visit by the Egyptian minister of foreign affairs to the country two days ago. The United Arab Emirates has canceled the entire debt owed to it by Iraq, a total of $7 billion, including interests and arrears. It has also expressed its readiness to take part in reconstruction projects taking place in post-war Iraq. SS (P) 1
