United Nations’ office opened in Basra province

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A UN headquarters was opened in Basra today, and houses a number of its agencies and organizations. The international organization will assist Iraq in getting out of UN Chapter VII and resolving problems with neighboring countries. The head of the mission Jonathan Robinson said, in his opening speech, that the UN will help Iraq get out of Chapter VII and resolve problems with neighboring countries. The organizations that will be housed in the headquarters include the World Health Organization, UNICEF and FAO. The office will support youths in the southern part of Iraq, in addition to environmental improvement and developing water resources. The UN flag was raised on the headquarter, at Basra International Airport, 20 km north west Basra, which lies 590 km to the south of  the capital, Baghdad.
