(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The US Senate voted on Wednesday against the project of arming Kurdish Peshmerga forces directly without going back to Baghdad.

According to the Washington Times newspaper, 45 US senators voted against the resolution during the session, while  54 others voted in its favor. But the US laws impose getting 60 votes for legislation of the decision in the Senate.

US senators, who voted against the draft resolution to send weapons to the Kurds directly, said that this resolution opposes the strategy of the United States in the fight against ISIS and the unity of Iraqi territory, stressing that any weapons given to the Kurds in the Kurdistan region must be be to Baghdad.
