VP meets chieftains of central, southern provinces

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi on Wednesday met with chieftains of central and southern provinces within his efforts to promote the upcoming provincial councils elections. “Al-Hashemi met on Wednesday (Jan. 21) with 750 chieftains representing coalitions and lists that support the Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) from Basra, Kut, Babel and Nassiriya to promote the upcoming provincial elections,” the correspondent of IraqiNews.com news agency said. The IAF has 27 seats out of 275-seat parliament. The provincial council elections are due to be held on January 31 in 14 out of 18 Iraqi provinces. SH (P) 1
