VP urges Lebanese president to boost bilateral ties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdulmahdi sent on Sunday a congratulatory cable to Lebanese President Michel Sleiman over the success of the country’s recent parliamentary elections, calling on him to further bilateral relations. “Iraq’s government and people are willing to enhance constructive relations with Lebanon in a way to serve the two countries’ higher interests and sustain the march of joint action among countries of the region,” Abdulmahdi said in the cable received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Lebanese Interior Minister Ziad Baroud had announced the official results of the parliamentary elections in which the March 14 powers alliance led by Saad al-Hariri, the head of the al-Mustaqbal bloc, won majority in parliament.
