Wassit governor, provincial council chief elected

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Wassit’s governor on Wednesday was re-elected for a second term and a new provincial council chief was voted into office by 17 out of 28 council members. “Lateef Hamad al-Tarfa from the Independents Bloc was re-elected as Wassit governor, and Mahmoud Abdulrida Talal from the Shahid al-Mihrab Bloc was elected as a council chairman,” a council member, Khalil Ghafoury, told IraqiNews.com news agency. The vote was held in the presence of the chairman of the Court of Cassation in the province, as well as 17 members from the Shahid al-Mihran bloc, the independent al-Ahrar Movement, and the Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) Coalition’s Independents Bloc and al-Daawa Party- Iraq Organization.
