Zebari, Belgian counterpart tackle reopening of embassy

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on Wednesday discussed with his Belgian counterpart the reopening of the Belgian embassy in Iraq. “We discussed with Minister Karel De Gucht the reopening of the Belgian embassy in Iraq…,” Zebari said in a press conference aired on the Iraqiya channel. Zebari thanked the Belgian government for canceling 80 percent of Iraq’s debts owed to it. “The visit aims to develop official relations between the two countries, which have been frozen for a long time,” the official noted. “It also aims to contribute to the rebuilding of Iraq,” he added.
