Shiite leader calls on Japanese companies to invest in Iraq

Iraq-Ammar BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Shiite leader Ammar al-Hakim called on Japanese companies to enter the Iraqi market and invest in reconstruction operations. “Al-Hakim received today Japanese Charge d’ affaires in Iraq, asserting Iraq’s keenness to develop diplomatic relations with all countries, mainly Japan,” the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com. “He asserted the importance of cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the industrial field,” the statement added. Al-Hakim called on the Japanese companies to invest in Iraq’s reconstruction field. For his part, the Japanese official, asserted Japan’s keenness to develop bilateral relations with Iraq, Ammar al-Hakim is the son of Abdulaziz al-Hakim and is also the chairman of the Shahid al-Mihrab (Martyr of the Pulpit) Foundation.
