Random fire kills, injures 2 civilians in Kut

Wassit-Random WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A civilian was killed and another one was injured on Thursday by random police fire in central Kut, said a police source. “Police randomly opened fire on grocers violating the law in the markets region in central Kut, killing a civilian and injuring another,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The body was sent to the morgue at al-Zahraa hospital in Kut, while the wounded was rushed to the same hospital for treatment,” he also said. “The police opened investigation into the incident,” he explained. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. SH (P)/SR 1
