Fadhila party says MP resigns for security, social reasons

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: MP from the Fadhila party on Friday attributed the resignation of the party’s lawmaker Seham Kazem for security and social reasons. “Kazem resigned from the parliament for security and social reasons after the killing of her husband and a number of her relatives so she had to resign to devote herself to her children,” Mukhles Blasem told IraqiNews.com. The parliament voted last Wednesday to accept the resignation of Seham Kazem from Fadhila party for security and social reasons, according to the parliament. Blasem described her resignation as a lose because, according to him, she was one of the active lawmakers inside the parliament’s economic committee. He said that the party will nominate a replacement, expecting he will be a man because the name that follows her name in the party’s candidates’ list was a name of a man. Iraqi Fadhila party, holding 15 out of the Parliament’s total 275 seats, withdrew in March of 2007 from participation in the government, demanding new political structures based on non-sectarian lines.
