No curfew during receiving Wassit security file – chief of police

Wassit-Curfew WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi security forces will not impose a curfew on Wassit on Wednesday, during the receipt of the security file, the chief of the Wassit police department said. “Iraqi forces are capable of maintaining security in the province when they receive the security file next Wednesday,” General Abdul Hanien Hamoud told IraqiNews.com. “The forces have started since thing morning to implement a tight security plan to secure the delegations which will attend the hand over ceremony,” he said, noting that the forces are ready to receive the security force from the Multinational forces. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. SH (P)/SR 1
