Parl. adjourns session until tom.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament adjourned its Monday session until tomorrow to debate a proposal submitted by the UN envoy to Iraq on Article 50 of the provincial council elections law. “First Deputy Speaker Sheikh Khaled Atiya adjourned today’s session until tomorrow to continue the debate on a proposal submitted by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura on the representation of minorities in the provincial council elections law,” a parliamentary media source told IraqiNews.com. The Parliament’s decision to remove Article 50, which specifies a quota for minorities in provincial councils, has sparked heated reactions from several political blocs representing the country’s Christians as well as other minorities.
