Legislator calls for measures against MPs implicated in stoking violence-statement

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi lawmaker on Wednesday called to take measures against MPs proved “implicated” in instigating violence, stressing the overseeing role played by the Parliament. “Immunity must be lifted from MPs implicated in displacement crimes and in instigating terrorist operations,” said MP Arif Tayfour, the parliament’s deputy speaker, in a statement. “The Parliament must activate the its overseeing role through questioning ministers and their deputies whose ministries showed a performance failure in order to point out their status and to punish the negligent.” The MP referred the measures are important in lights of “ongoing insecurity and bad public services”.
