Female student shot outside university

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A female university student on Thursday was shot as she left campus in downtown Kut city, according to a local police source. “On Thursday, a student of the Faculty of Education, Wassit University, was shot and taken to al-Karama Hospital in Kut for treatment,” the source told IraqiNews.com. Investigations are currently underway to reveal the motivations behind the incident, the source noted. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy. Prior to 1976 it was known as Kut Province. SS (P) 2
