Northern Baghdad bridge re-opened

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The al-A’ima bridge, which links the northern Baghdad areas of al-Adhamiya and al-Kadhemiya, was re-opened on Tuesday after three years of closure. More than 1,000 Shiite pilgrims heading towards Imam Musa al-Kadhim’s tomb in the city of al-Kadhemiya were killed in a deadly stampeded over the bridge three years ago. The inaugural ceremonies were attended by Abboud Qonbor, the representative of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and the commander of the Baghdad Fardh al-Qanoon (law imposing) security plan, and Baghdad Governor Hussein al-Tahan as well as members of the Sunni and Shiite Endowments.
