Conference in Arbil about food security

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com : A conference on Sunday was held in Arbil, and attended by a number of experts and officials from the federal and Kurdistan’s governments, to discuss a complete analysis of food security in Iraq during the two years of 2007 and 2008, and brittle categories in this regard. “The aim of this analysis is to collect information about food security in Iraq and living circumstances of people,” Othman Shawani, planning minister of Kurdistan’s regional government, told IraqiNews.com. “It also aims at identifying the percentage of children and people that suffer food security problems,” he added. The analysis showed that three percent (930,000) of Iraqis are not food secured, in addition to 22 percent of Iraq’s population who entirely rely on of the food stuff system; otherwise, they are also food unsecured.
