Inflation up by 2.7% in October

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s inflation index during October 2008 went up by 2.7%, according to the national statistics agency on Tuesday. “The rise is blamed on the increase consumer commodities like foodstuffs (5.0%), tobacco and beverage (0.5%), fabrics, garments and footwear (0.5%), furniture (1.5%), fuel and lighting (8.7%) and other commodities and services (0.3%),” read the planning ministry’s agency statement as received by IraqiNews.com. The annual inflation index went during the period between October 2007 and October 2008 also rose by 7.6%, it added. AmR (P) 1
