Nine persons killed in Iraq in 24 hours

Iraq / IraqiNews.com: Nine persons were killed and 54 others were wounded in acts of violence that took place in separate areas of Iraq in the past 24 hours, security sources said. In Baghdad, an improvised explosive device went off near a police checkpoint in the Steen street in al-Doura region in southern Baghdad, killing three people and injuring 15, including three policemen, a police source told IraqiNews.com. The same source said “another bomb exploded targeting an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in al-Mansour region in western Baghdad, injuring four soldiers.” The U.S. army in Iraq said on Friday that one of its soldiers died in non-combat related incident on Thursday in central Iraq. In Mosul, a security source said police forces on Thursday found five bodies of unknown people, including two women in Tal Abata region in al-Hadar district in southwest Mosul. A suicide bomber blew up a car bomb targeting an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in western Mosul, injuring 35 civilians. SH (P) 1
