Sulaimaniya hosts Iranian exhibition

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: A four-day trade exhibition for Iranian companies was opened on Tuesday in Sulaimaniya province with the participation of 250 companies, an exhibition supervisor said. “A total of 250 companies working in 14 different fields have participated in the exhibition with the aim of boosting investment opportunities and establishing trade relations between Iran and the Kurdistan region,” Yaseen Raheemy told IraqiNews.com. Sulaimaniya Governor Dana Ahmed Majeed and the governor of the Iranian Kermanshah city, Majeed Ghafouri, attended the inauguration of the exhibition, held at the International Exhibitions Hall, Taslouja, western Sulaimaniya. The modern city of Sulaimaniya, 364 kilometers north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, was founded in 1748 by a Kurdish prince known as Ibrahim Pasha Baban who named it for his father Sulaiman Pasha. Since being founded as the capital of a powerful Kurdish principality it has grown to about 1,800,000 people. Sulaimaniya, known as Zamwa prior to its founding, is the cultural center of the Sorani-speaking Kurds and an important economic centre for Iraqi Kurdistan. SS (S) 1
