17 killed, wounded in UNAMI’s HQ attack

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Seventeen persons were killed or wounded in a rocket attack that targeted the Baghdad headquarters of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) earlier this morning, a spokesperson for the mission said. “Two persons were killed and 15 others were wounded in a mortar attack on the UNAMI building in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone,” the spokesperson told IraqiNews.com. The spokesperson refused to reveal the nationalities of the casualties. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) was established on August 14, 2003. Its mandate operates through a Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq. The current mandate has been extended to August 2009.
