UNAMI’s Baghdad HQ rocketed

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Baghdad headquarters of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) was rocketed this morning, according to a mission source. “During an early hour this morning, a rocket hit UNAMI’s building, located in downtown Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, leaving an unknown number of casualties,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The source did not provide further details. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) was established on August 14, 2003. Its mandate operates through a Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq. The current mandate has been extended to August 2009.
