Baghdad

ID250b to develop Kadhimiya city

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A total of 250 billion Iraqi dinars has been allocated for the development of the area surrounding Baghdad’s al-Rawda al-Kadhimiya, Baghdad’s mayor said on Monday. “Baghdad’s mayoralty has a vision and a multi-pronged plan for the development of the holy city,” according to a statement received by IraqiNews.com, quoting Mayor Sabir al-Issawi as saying. An international competition will be held to select new designs for the city, Issawi explained. Kadhimiya city, located in Baghdad’s western side of al-Karkh, is a holy Shiite city that hosts the shrines of two Shiite imams, the seventh Shiite Imam Musa al-Kadhem and his grandson Muhammad al-Jawad. It is located in the northern area of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
