Cornerstone for rehabilitating al-Jiesh Canal project laid in Baghdad

Baghdad-Canal BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The secretary of Baghdad on Tuesday laid the cornerstone for the rehabilitation and development of the al-Jiesh Canal project in Baghdad at a total project-cost of more than 60 billion Iraqi dinars, according to a statement from the Baghdad secretariat. “Saber al-Eissawi laid the foundation stone of the rehabilitating and developing al-Jiesh Canal with a total cost $50 million,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com. “The project was sent to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and was approved after making special designs for it,” it added. Al-Jiesh Canal is a watercourse extends from northern Baghdad until its southeastern part. Its length is more than 50 km. SH (P)/SR 1
