Security plan in Missan during Eid

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: Local authorities in the Iraqi province of Missan have prepared a security plan for the holiday of Eidul-Adha, a local police chief said on Saturday. “The police command in Missan province has worked out a tight security plan for the Eidul-Adha (the Greater Bairam) holiday…Police patrols will be stepped up to provide a sufficient level of security in public places and parks,” Staff. Maj. Gen. Saad Ali al-Harbiya told IraqiNews.com. Eidul-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims and Druze worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Missan is a Shiite province. Its capital city is al-Amara. Sitting on the Tigris River, Amara lies 390 km south of Baghdad. Missan, in the east of the country, bordering Iran, is home to many marsh Arabs. SS (P) 1
