IED wounds Baaquba mayor, 33 others

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: An improvised explosive device (IED) went off inside a store in central Baaquba on Sunday during a tour of local officials in the city, leaving 34 people, including the city’s mayor, wounded, a police source in Diala said. “The IED ripped through the store in al-Anaqsa area, central Baaquba, after a number of officials entered it. Mayor Abdullah al-Hayali and Diala Police Coordination Director Col. Ragheb al-Omayri were among the wounded,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “Eight policemen, eight sahwa (awakening) tribal fighters, two media people from the Dijla (Tigris) satellite channel and civilians were also wounded in the explosion,” the source added, not giving more details about the incident.
