Eidul Adha – security improvement, life of hardship

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The main Iraqi markets in Baghdad is crowded with citizens, the first time in five years, after the improvement in the security condition; poverty however, may deprive some from Eid’s joy. For Mohamed Majid, an employee, he decided to benefit from the vacation during Eidul Adha. “I decided to go out with my family with no fear because the terrorism has gone and not returned, and we will celebrate this Eid with a great joy and pleasure,” Majid said. “All parks in Baghdad will be opened to receive citizens, even the parks in what are called the hot areas like al-Aazamiya, Sadr City, al-Ghazaliya, and al-Aamiriya,” Hakim Abd al-Zahra, the director of the media department of the Baghdad secretariat, told IraqiNews.com. In Kirkuk, the rise in the prices of goods shed light on people’s joy in al-Eid. “Eidul Adha is a happy event and a very valuable event for us, but i feel sad and rage because i cant bring all my family’s needs and this is because our weak salaries and the traders’ greediness,” Mohamed Jamal, a 45-old-year teacher, said. The prices of food stuff have skyrocketed significantly, mainly the price of meat which soared from ID 10,000 ti ID 12,000 for one kilogram. The situation is the same in Falluja in western Iraq, where the security improved and life came back one again. Mustafa al-Habash, a Youngman from Falluja, believes he lives in a distress as he can not buy any clothes or make a shopping for the Eid or even to buy a simple present for his fiancée. He is just a fresh graduate and has not yet found a job. SH (S)/SR 1
