PB meets Maliki to discuss political reform paper – VP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdelmahdi on Thursday said the Presidential Board (PB) will meet Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to discuss a document on political reform with the aim of reaching a “genuine reform”. “The PB focused during its meeting today on the political reform paper and details were tackled on practical means to go ahead with its implementation,” a presidential statement quoted Abdelmahdi as saying after a PB meeting held in the tourist resort of Ducan, Sulaimaniya city, on Thursday. “The details on the political reform paper will be published in the official gazette after the Eidul-Adha holiday,” he said in the statement received by IraqiNews.com. The document, ratified by the PB on December 4, provides for releasing all those arrested and covered by the general amnesty law 19/2008 as well as investigating issues related to human rights issues.
