IED targets U.S. patrol in Mosul; no casualties
NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A U.S. patrol vehicle was hit by a bomb in northern Mosul city, but no casualties were reported, a local police source said on Tuesday. “An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated above al-Jamea Tunnel in northern Mosul while a U.S. patrol vehicle was passing the location,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The explosion caused damage to the vehicle, but no casualties were reported, the source added. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
