INDC puts forward candidates for parliament’s speakership

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi National Dialogue Council (INDC) on Wednesday said that it will put forward candidates from the Coordination Assembly for the position of the Parliament’s speaker. “The INDC will name several candidates to succeed the resigned Mahmoud al-Mashhadani,” Khalaf al-Alyan, the head of the council, which announced its withdrawal from the Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) earlier today, told IraqiNews.com. The Coordination Assembly is a term used to describe all political blocs that voted on the elections law on July 22, 2008. The assembly includes the Sadrist movement, the Fadhila Party, the Iraqi National List (INL), the National Reform Movement, the Independent Arab Bloc, in addition to some independent parliamentarians.
