Provincial figure survives assassination bid in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: A member of Basra’s provincial council on Sunday said that one of his colleagues survived an assassination attempt when an explosive device stuck to his car went off immediately after he had got out of it. “The targeted figure is Bacim al-Mousawi,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The incident took place in front of the provincial council’s building where al-Mousawi came for his daily office hours,” he added. He pointed out that the explosion left no casualties. The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad. MH (P) / SS 1
