Al-Hashemi, Allawi review activating reform document

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi on Wednesday discussed with former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi means to develop the political process in Iraq and to activate the political reform document. “Al-Hashemi visited Allawi at his office in Baghdad accompanied by MP Abdul Karim al-Sameraei and Head of the Presidential divan Nassier al-Aani,” al-Hashemi’s office said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com. “The meeting tackled the latest political developments and way to develop the political process in Iraq as well as activating the political reform document, approved by the parliament,” the statement added. The document, approved by the parliament last November 27, is a document which some political blocs stipulated to approve it before approving the U.S. troops withdrawal agreement. The document provides for releasing all those arrested and covered by the general amnesty law 19/2008 as well as investigating issues related to human rights issues. SH (P 1
