2 IIP candidates for parliament speaker post – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Lawmaker Hashim al-Tai’e on Friday said that the candidates to occupy the position of parliament speaker should be from within the Iraqi Accord Front. “One of two nominees from the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP), Ayad al-Samarraie or Osama al-Tikriti, is most likely to fill the post,” Tai’e told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Even if the consensus process would conclude that the nominee should not be from the IIP, he must be from within the IAF,” he stressed. The Sunni IAF bloc currently consists of the IIP, IAF leader Adnan al-Dulaimi’s Iraq People’s Congress (IPC). “Dulaimi did not oppose that the nominee be from the IIP,” al-Tai’e said. He pointed out that the National Dialogue Council (NDC), which used to be one of the key components of the Sunni bloc, has no place now after it had quit. Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, the Iraqi parliament speaker, had belonged to Khalaf al-Alyan’s NDC. MH (P)/AmR 2
