Organization condemns U.S. army gun shooting on Iraqi journalist

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Journalists and Media Union on Saturday condemned the gun shooting incident that was committed by U.S. forces against an Iraqi female journalist who works for a satellite TV station. “The Union condemns that reckless act which occurred on the first day after Iraq gained sovereignty over the green zone in al-Jadriya area where the incident took place,” the Union said in a release that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency. On Thursday (Jan. 1), journalist Hadeel Emad who works for the Iraqi Beladi satellite TV station came under U.S. army fire in al-Jadriya that witnessed a celebration for security responsibilities handover of the fortified Green Zone, central Baghdad, to Iraqi forces. The Union held the U.S. forces responsible for the incident, refusing to accept any reasons made by them to justify this “ugly incident,” as a U.S. spokesman said that Emad evoked suspicion and did not obey U.S. troops’ instructions.
