Lawmaker announces nomination for parliamentary speakership

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Lawmaker Mahdi al-Hafodh of the Iraqi National List on Tuesday announced his nomination to occupy the position of Iraqi parliament speaker, explaining that this issue has acquired political and public agreement. “To pave the ground on the way to getting rid of the quota political system that has found fertile land in Iraq, I announce my nomination for the position of parliament speaker,” al-Hafodh told IraqiNews.com news agency. “This nomination came after discussions within the Iraqi slate,” he said. “The nomination complies with the Iraqi constitution,” he added.
