IEDs defused in Missan

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were defused and an amount of ammunition was seized in downtown Amara city, a local security source said on Sunday. “Forces from the anti-explosives department and Hitteen police defused three explosive charges and seized highly explosive material in the centre of Amara city,” Col. Sadeq Sallam told IraqiNews.com news agency. Since June 19, 2008, Iraqi security forces have been conducting a wide-scale security operation called Bashaer al-Salam (Promises of Peace) in Missan with the aim of tracking down armed groups in the province.
