Parliamentary sessions for readings only – MP

Iraq-US BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Lawmaker Boshra al-Kinani of the Fadila parliamentary bloc on Monday said the council of representatives’ sessions will be for reading bills only until a final decision on who will become the parliament’s speaker is made, explaining that there are differences over the legitimacy of the sessions continuing without a speaker. “Lawmakers from the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP) withdrew from today’s session, as they believe it is illegal,” al-Kinani told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Blocs of al-Fadila, Unified Iraqi Alliance, and Kurdistan Alliance demanded that the sessions should proceed,” she said. “The final decision was that sessions will proceed, but they will be devoted to readings only,” she added.
