Government OKs financial agreement with IDA – source

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The official spokesperson of the Iraqi government on Wednesday said that the council of ministers decided to agree the bill of approving the agreement signed with International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank. “The agreement is related to a loan to fund the Urgent Project to Provide Water,” Ali al-Dabbagh said in a release that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The agreement was signed by the Iraq government and IDA on Oct. 15, 2008,” he added. “The project aims at providing better quality and quantity of drinking water at the provinces of Diwaniya, Thi-Qar, Wassit and Missan,” he noted. “According to the Iraqi constitution, the agreement will be admitted to the parliament for approval,” he asserted.
