IAF revotes on its speaker’s candidate

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Sunni Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) on Monday will revote on its candidate for the position of the Iraqi Parliament’s speaker after the head of the National Dialogue Council has rejoined the front, according to a front member. “The front will meet today to vote on a new candidate after Sheikh Khalaf al-Alyan has retuned to the front,” MP Hisham al-Taaie told IraqiNews.com news agency. Mahmoud al-Mashhadani stepped down as Parliament speaker following a heated argument with members of parliamentary committees, during which he allegedly used “offensive” language that prompted many parliamentarians to call for his resignation.
