Iraqis will remember Baghdad’s great scholar

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi premier Nouri al-Maliki on Tuesday said that the name of the great scholar Hussein Ali Mahfodh will be preserved in the memories of Iraqis and generations of authors and academics, according to a release issued by Maliki’s office. Maliki sent “his sincere condolences to the Iraqi people for the death of Mahfodh,” according to the release that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Mahfodh was and will remain a landmark in contemporary Iraqi culture,” he added. Mahfodh has been suffering from an illness for a week, before he died on Monday night (Jan. 19). He was born in 1962 and was specialized in eastern languages.
