Food security – strategic goods committee established

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraq Cabinet’s secretariat on Thursday announced the formation of a committee on food security and strategic goods in an attempt to ensure the supply of foodstuffs and basic goods in local markets. “The establishment of the committee also aims to protect local consumers from economic fluctuations,” according to a statement released by the cabinet and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The committee is headed by the Iraqi minister of trade, Abdelfalah al-Sudani. The committee will be assigned to examine the problems of the food market and the reasons behind price increases, the statement added. SS (P)/SR 1
