7 films screened on 3rd day of Missan festival

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: Seven short documentary and narrative films were screened during the activities of the al-Hirban film festival on al-Amara theater on Friday, the festival’s director said. “The al-Hirban Film Festival’s program for Friday (Jan. 23) included seven short films: Gheyab al-Badr (Absence of Light) by the Independent Media Association in Missan, Arrab al-Cinema al-Iraqiya (Theorist of Iraqi Cinema) by director Uday Fadel, Jonoon ala al-Tariqa al-Iraqiya (Craze a la Iraq) by Nusseir Sami and Tahadi (Challenge) by Asaad al-Hilali,” said Khaled Muhammad Ulwan in statements to IraqiNews.com news agency. “The program also included the morning screening of the film al-Orjooha (The Swing) by director Khlood Jabbar, Omneyat (Wishes) by director Alaa Badri and Dimaa Rasamat al-Darb (Blood that Outlined the Path) by director Muhammad Mohsen,” he added. Ali Abdelnabi, a film pundit, said all screenings for today were very special but the film Gheyab al-Badr , which tells the story of the killing of journalist Nizar al-Radi, a native of Amara, was a strong tearjerker. “I shed tears repeatedly during the film, in which actual life persons appeared, including Radi’s children, and how they received the news of his martyrdom,” Abdelnabi added. The 1st al-Hirban International Film Festival, organized by the Iraqi Novel House, was inaugurated on Wednesday in the province of Missan, where 71 short documentary and narrative films from 16 Arab and non-Arab countries took part. Amara, the capital of Missan, lies 390 km south of Baghdad. AmR (S) 1
