Ministry to track down those who threaten media staff

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of interior, Jawad al-Bolani, on Tuesday said that his ministry will track down those who threaten journalists and media sources while they are coverage the upcoming election, according to a release issued by the Journalistic Freedoms Observatory (JFO). The release quoted General Abdelkareem Khalaf, the director of the interior ministry’s operations room, as saying: “security personnel and policemen are ready to execute arrest warrants on anyone who threatens journalists or media sources.” “No one is above the law and the constitution, regardless of his or her position,” he added.
