Finance minister urges int’l banks to invest in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Finance Minister Baqer Jabr al-Zubaidi Wednesday called on international banks to open branches in Iraq and to start partnerships with the Iraqi banking sector. Speaking on the inauguration of the Iraqi banks union conference in Baghdad, the minister said “I call on all international and foreign banks to consider opening branches in Iraq or to start partnership relations with the Iraqi private banking sector.” He demanded the participating banks in the conference to start as of tomorrow workshops with Iraqi private banks.
