Tues. evening deadline for receiving complaints- IHEC

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Independent Higher Electoral Commission has set today evening as a deadline for receiving complaints about violations during the provincial elections that took place earlier this week. “The three-day time limit set by the commission for receiving complaints started after polling centers closed at 06:00 p.m. Saturday until 06:00 p.m. Tuesday,” according to a statement released by the commission and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. On Saturday (Jan. 31), voters headed to polling stations in Baghdad and 13 other Iraqi provinces to elect their representatives in the country’s provincial councils amidst tight security measures. Over 15 million voters participated in the election, according to the IHEC. Security personnel, prisoners sentenced to less than five years and hospital-bound cast early ballots in the special voting, held on Wednesday (Jan. 28). SS (P) 1
