$500m project to refurbish plant oils factory in Amara

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: A plant oils factory in the province of Missan was rehabilitated at a cost of $500 million by the U.S. army’s civilian service’s reconstruction team, a local official said on Thursday. “The rehabilitation included providing the factory with generators, power transformers and spare parts,” Mohan Mahi, the chairman of the Reconstruction & Development Commission in Amara, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The process has led to improving and increasing production by 15-25%,” he added. The province of Missan is home to three large factories of plant oils, paper and sugar, working with average production of 15-50% of their capacities due to the old-fashioned equipment and lack of spare parts. Amara, the capital city of Missan, lies 390 km south of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
