150 displaced Christian families return to Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Around 150 displaced Christian families have returned to their houses in Mosul since the beginning of February, the deputy chief of al-Hamadaniya police said on Tuesday. “150 displaced Christian families have returned to their house in Mosul since the beginning of February 2009, after filling out the return applications,” Brigadier Fares Ablahad told IraqiNews.com news agency. There are 10,000 displaced families in al-Hamadaniya district, according to the displaced and immigration office. Several Christian families have fled Mosul during the past months, while Iraqi security sources said that a few Christians were killed in separate incidents in the city, signaling an increase in the wave of attacks against religious communities in the northern volatile city. Al-Hamadaniya is located 30 km east of Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, which lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR 1
