Sarkozy in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday morning on a state visit, according to an Iraqi foreign ministry official. “The French president arrived today (Feb. 10) in Baghdad on a state visit. He was received by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and other Iraqi officials,” Labi Abawi, Iraqi Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Sarkozy “headed for the presidential palace,” Abawi said. He did not elaborate on the period or purposes of the French president’s visit to Iraq. AmR (P) 1
