25 blocs threaten civil disobedience in Missan

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: A total of 25 political blocs in Missan on Thursday agreed to start a civil disobedience if their contestations presented to the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) were not considered. “A total of 25 blocs, during an extraordinary meeting, agreed to launch demonstrations which will be followed by a civil disobedience in case their contestations against the preliminary results of the recent provincial elections were not considered,” Ali Hussein, representative of the Islamic al-Fadhila party, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “These blocs have the official documents which assert that the electoral process was manipulated,” he added, noting that all these documents were presented to the IHEC. For his part, Abdul Ameer Darwiesh, a representative of another political list “Mehaniyoon,” said “independent and small blocs which presented contestations to the IHEC will hold a press conference, during which they will issue a statement to highlight violations during the Missan provincial council elections.” Amara, the capital city of Missan, lies 390 km south of Baghdad.
