INL forms committee to contest Diwaniya’s elections results

DIWANIYA / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi National List on Monday finalized preparations for a legal committee to present complaints to the Iraqi Federal Court to contest the results of Diwaniya’s elections, the spokesman for the INL said. “The committee consists of legal experts and former judges as well as Iraqi lawyers who have a great experience in this field,” Baqer Shaalan told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that INL will also work on appointing foreign lawyers specialized in elections cases. “If the elections commission insists on manipulating the voters’ votes for the authority’s parties and to announce the final results we will file a suit against it and are sure that we will win,” he added. The INL got 8 percent of the total votes in Diwaniya’s elections. Diwaniya is 180 km south of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR 1
